Last week, John Amaechi, a former NBA center, came out of the closet as a homosexual man. This was an incredibly brave act in a sports culture dominated by machismo and image. Tim Hardaway, a player for the Miami Heat came out as a bigot soon after, proclaiming "You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known, I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."Some apologists have defended him with, "he's saying what other players are thinking." I don't care, there's no excuse for bigotry.see:http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2766213 » original news
