Sure, open source is great because it's free. But that's just about all that's good about it. Remember, you get what you pay for. Linux is just too complicated for normal people, period. People want to pop in an installation disk and go. People want their software to work right out of the box, and for all of its advances, Linux has never been able to solve this basic problem. There's also the problem of the various distros, which are intimidating to users. Also, if you ever have a problem, good luck gettng anything useful out of the fussy programmers who make up the Linux community. Maybe someday Linux will have a chance, but that day is not today.
